Happy TAKS week, all!

Taking a quick break in monitoring to ask your help in promoting this opportunity to the librarians in your districts in order to provide important data which will be used for advocacy efforts in Texas and nationally.

The deadline was extended until May 14th, so we have time to encourage librarians to submit if they haven't done so.

Thanks and looking forward to seeing you all on the other side of this school year in Austin for our conference!

Don’t miss an opportunity to have your school library counted. AASL’s School Libraries Count! longitudinal survey is the only annual national data collection of school libraries. Now more than ever it is vital to have this information on hand for advocacy efforts at the national and state levels. Most importantly we need schools who have lost their librarians to participate to ensure accurate data on staffing levels.

Participate now by visiting http://www.aaslsurvey.org<http://www.aaslsurvey.org/>. For tips to help collect your information prior to accessing the survey visit http://www.ala.org/aasl/slcsurvey . All participants in this year’s survey will have access to a personalized report comparing your data to similar size and grade level within your state and nationally.

If you haven’t already, please participate today and spread the word to other school libraries in your area. Remember data collection is for the school library and so in areas in which school librarians are not present please encourage the staff on hand to participate.
