I tried, but I think we have few to none of our elementary librarians in low SES areas as members of AASL. :(

Mary -- I have been feverishly trying to find an elementary school library in the San Antonio area that meets these requirements. It's an awesome opportunity to show what Texas school librarians can do at the national level. Would you PLEASE forward this to the TASLA listserv for me?
I appreciate it immensely!
Gracias--

Hi, all ---
For several years, I have been advising PBS on a project in which they provide some fairly significant resources for children's areas in public libraries. They have decided to expand the program to school libraries. To get the ball rolling, they have asked me to identify some exemplary elementary school library media specialists who serve children in poverty (i.e. Title I or 95% and above FRL). Ideally, the SLMS you recommend should be AASL members. I am particularly looking for people in cities/towns/states in the markets PBS is targeting. If you do not know someone personally, please feel free to reach out to your colleagues in these cities/towns/states. I would trust the judgment of anyone whose judgment you trust!
So the magic combination is: AASL member who is an exemplary practitioner in a high poverty elementary school or pre-K/K/early childhood school in one of the locales listed below.
Cities/towns:
Washington, DC
Buffalo, NY
Martin, TN
Nashville, TN
Toledo, OH
Phoenix, AZ
San Francisco/Oakland, CA
San Diego, CA
San Antonio, TX
Carbondale, IL
State College, PA
Tallahassee, FL
Pensacola, FL
Norfolk, VA
Anywhere in state:
Louisiana
Maryland
New York
Iowa
Mississippi
Alabama
West Virginia
Thanks so much for your help!
